Fashion throwback- the 1930's

Daughters of Leo and Tessie Reber
Front to back: RaNae, Ruth, Dorothy, Velma, Miriam and Avonelle

I fell in love with this picture the moment I saw it.  These sisters are beautiful and the fashion--- spot on for the 1930's!

The 1930's said good by to the "boyish" look of the 1920s and embraced by  a much more modest look by 1933.  The style was form fitted with a high wais, fitted hips, longer mid-calf or floor length hemline, high neckline and wide shoulders.

Budgets were tight in the 1930's so women had to look smart and "be" smart.  Less expensive fabrics had somewhat of a peasant look to them.  Cotton became a staple!
