Throwback Thursday- a love story- who is your Arthur?

The young and beautiful and French, Mimi fell head over heels in love for the  American Soldier, Arthur.  Despite the language barrier, the two fell hopelessly in love and were married in Casablanca in 1946.

Mimi's family had moved to Algeria before she was born.  At that time, Algeria was part of the French colonization that took place in Algeria, Morocco and North Africa between 1850 to 1940. Mimi mpved with her family from Algeria  to Casablanca when she was 9 years old.

Mimi had this to say, "Casablanca was an exciting place to live because you could meet anyone from all over the world there."  And thankfully for her she met Arthur...

This Valentine's  follow your heart... as Mimi used to say, "There comes a time when people have to have a hand in their own destiny"

The Fashion of the 1940's was utilitarian with a touch of chic. Mimi wears the classic "40's" dress with the belted waist and the open toe high heeled shoe.

Note: It was in Casablanca that Roosevelt and Churchhill met to discuss the progress of war in 1943 (Casablanca Conference).  Casablanca housed the largest American air base.  This base was known as the staging area for all American aircraft for the European Theater of Operations in World War II.(Wikipedia)

Thanks, Rachelle for sharing!
